Fall of Innocence
I was born
A true Summer child,
Basking in the warmth
Reminiscent
Of that brief life before;
So I was young
When I caught sight
Of Autumn;
The way she wafted
Past simple defenses
And bore right through
My demure senses;
The way she
Tenderly
Let fall every last leaf,
Blushing brilliantly,
And beckoned me,
…Come.
A true Summer child,
Basking in the warmth
Reminiscent
Of that brief life before;
So I was young
When I caught sight
Of Autumn;
The way she wafted
Past simple defenses
And bore right through
My demure senses;
The way she
Tenderly
Let fall every last leaf,
Blushing brilliantly,
And beckoned me,
…Come.
