The Shoreline

While pondering life
Destiny's hands caressed my face
One was rough, cracked, and firm
The other so soft, like a mother's words to a new born babe

I saw the sun, whose blaze fueled my unfettered rage
The moon, whose pale embrace brought forth memories of a kinder man

From space to the seas
Waves of uncertainty rock the spiritual ship
I stumble, and fall
Until at last I tie myself to the mast

One can see the stars from land
Just as they can see them from the sea
For it is the journey within that calls me by name
