The Meaning Of Success

we’re wired
not hardwired

but software programmed
by culture and beliefs

wired to believe
success is a place we get to

when goals are accomplished
when things are complete

numbed by tv news social media
(cultural nerve gas)

we measure present moments
by how “finished” they are

how good the story sounds
how someone else judges it

we find ourselves thinking
“is this all there is?” forgetting

that
everything is transitory

that
no single instance can summarize the whole

that
there is nowhere to “arrive”

that
the only thing we’re rushing toward is death

success is not accomplishing goals
success is changing in the process
