Evening Chorus
A twilit silence welcomed me
As gray clouds billowed east
Stirring the branch on every tree
With fresh air for a feast;
A silent feast blown by the sea
In grey declining light
To pair well with a chill Chablis
Before the fall of night.
And as the fall of night advanced
Some crickets chorused there
Within the breeze where they romanced
Without an insect care!
So brief a span of life have they
Their love must be made quick;
With no time to rhyme the human way...
Their chirping does the trick:)
