Where Does My Story End?
Where does my story end? Will it be
in a frenzied dance of lust or in the
hot embrace of a treasured love?
Will I find death at the hands of another?
I've known men capable of killing.
Having been so inept at living, wouldn't it be ironic if I spent
my last moments flailing desperately for one more breath of life?
Where does my story end? Surely it must.
There is no escape from the darkness that imprisons me now.

I'm revisiting this poem I wrote a while back when I had fallen into addiction. Now my feelings of helplessness and nagging desperation have returned.

"Will I find death at the hands of another?" - that was something I prayed wouldn't (and didn't) happen to your mother when she went missing, given the vulnerable state I understood she was in.
