All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely Players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts
-William Shakespeare
the stage I thought be adorned
with lights so grand that I would shine
fame and stardom as a beauty queen
even as I looked up from paddy fields
my slender figure like a mannequin
adorned with garments so beautiful
gowns shiny with glittering sequins
that show off my dark eyes
crowds would gather to admire
the lovely figure and adorable face
suitors would line up outside my door
and I would be spoiled for choice
the stage was, alas, set to poverties
beauty was able to break mirrors
no gowns nor flashy garments
adorned the un-shapely figure
No starring roles were offered
No gowns or diamonds decked
the dress on the mannequin
exit stage left, even
