Toad In A Hole

A toad
All agog
Asked a frog
"Good morning Mister Frog"
"How deep is the water today?"
Mister Frog
Shot out his long rolling tongue
Caught a passing insect
Seemed to ponder awhile
Whilst feasting
Then replied
"Nee deep, nee deep"
The toad
Believing this to be the answer
Thanked the frog
With a giant leap
Splashed into the water
Sank straight to the bottom of this deep river
And drowned
Mister Frog, looked on
Caught another insect
Then leapt onto a Lily Pad
"Nee deep, nee deep" went Mister Frog
And stayed there all day
Catching insects
Without a care in the world
