A Queen Appears

How brilliant this rainbow strikes
Off a bed of post gloom
Wrinkled by ululation’s answer
Cold sweat and sleepless nights
Ends with downpour
After—the sky has opened
Pathways to heaven exposed
Straight roads of gold and brass
And silver and jade
All sapphire we know
With ruby burn slow and fade to night
Amber, she giggles, a honeytrap touch
I watch them colors feed hard the bleak
Into grey—then a denim umbrella
And stars appear—a warm up act
To the main event I safely lay,
All in submission, bow down
In her glow I bathe, her scars I balm
I’m there otherwise—floor is her
On nights when monsters come
And told off by silent stares
Stop. Here is—
Her Majesty.
Look. Here is—
The Moon.
