Your Not Here

My mother inherited you
After your own passed in the night
A ball of fluff and always mad
You played with her hair

Nothing fazed you
Everything was a curiosity
The world had no evil to speak of
It was just you and her

The years just go
And your health does too
My mother swears your still here

But I don’t know
Her heart’s ripped in two
She can’t move on if your not here

When the rain turned
When her day got a little worse
When nothing made it right
You were there for her

Paw prints in the dust
Little shadows that only I see
Every time I visit I swear your around
It’s almost like you never left

The years just go
And your memories do too
But my mother swears your still here

But I don’t know
Her heart’s ripped in two
She can’t move on if your not here

No tears in the laughter
She can finally talk about you again
I’m her son but not the only one
She never did replace you

And I laugh along
But driving home I wonder
Where you are and where you been
Will you be back again
