Grief

It starts here;
The beginning is always blank
Then you turn it on
it hurts at first, but then you let go
You stop and feel the music for a minute
Pound a few more keys
Hit it a few more times

Empty, you feel empty, yet filled to the brim
Like you've held it in so long
The idea of relief becomes panic
It becomes pain and then tears
You scream nothing but "why?"
Over and over and over again

It carries on
With or without you
It's your story
But you're not playing your part
That's okay
It's okay to not care sometimes

But then you feel the empty, again
Like a starvation; needing to feed
You sit down and hope for the best
Nothing, just nothing

You carry on
With or without it
Never force what won't flow
It's your story
But you know it's always there
Because nothing ever changes

It lingers there,
In the back of your head
You cling to it loosely,
But it's as good as dead
They always offer comfort;
they'll be there to pray
You only ask why it seems,
Only you're the one to pay?

But you carry on
One step in front of the other
You carry on
Wishing for the best

Author's Note
Truthfully, I have this and another I want to post but don't like how they're "finished". I feel they should be longer, but at the same time I'm going through some writer's block and sometimes, it just shuts off...Kind of like how this one goes lol If you'd like to offer suggestions or add to it, I'm open to it :)
