keeping pets is a bit weird, as if the need to be loved, or to love, isn’t fulfilled by your own species, I admit, is particularly unattractive ..

It is quite so. The worst ones (for me) are those who choose snakes.........(I saw a guy a while back walking down the street with an enormous one around his neck. Otherwise I don't really mind cats or dogs (also, as you well know, a zillion$$$$$ industry).
