A Beautiful Lie
I've hit a crossroad
keep going or accept my fate
looking at a life fulfilling
but also one that's gone
I see the future
it says opportunity awaits
but I'm tired, oh so tired
looking into the mirror
I see my past
it says learn to forgive yourself
right or wrong we're all just human
never above redemption
I've always felt I tried my best
much too young then to know better
still I'm put up on a cross now
I start to walk, then run
the now is screaming out
look at the scenery!
how can a world so beautiful,
have such a ugly underbelly?
something I want no part of
still trying to find what cures me
so I point a gun and shoot
all around the room
sounds of shattering glass echo
sorry future, past, and present
but you end here...
starting over if only to stay ignorant
because a lie is only a lie
till one day it becomes truth

Dear DC,
Captivating write. That first stanza especially was so relatable. Life and trying to figure it out is exhausting to me. The raw honesty in this poem is art and I really appreciated the truth.
