Human Relevance: An Inspired Question

In this machine world where we reside
What is the role of humans who abide
By codes and rules that bind us with their chains?
Are we mere cogs in this gigantic wheel?

That spins and grinds without our will or say?
Are we reduced to numbers that display
Our worth and value in this cold machine?
If they can win our wars and feed our needs

And they can scan the stars and solve our deeds
Then how do we find meaning in our lives?
But we have something they cannot attain
A burning fire that fuels our every vein

A passion for the beauty, art, and wonder
A thirst for risk and blunder and adventure
And more than that, we have a sweet desire
To touch and kiss and hold and love with fire

To feel the warmth and softness of a skin
To taste the sweetness of a lover’s grin
No, we are more than digits and statistics
We have a spark that they cannot ignite

We have a soul that they cannot excite
We have a heart that beats with love and light
So let us not despair or lose our hope
For we have something with which they cannot cope

Author's Note
I originally tried to write this poem as a sonnet. I made it longer and changed the structure & rhyme the more I wrote. I used AI to give me tips on making it resemble the "Spenserian" style of poetry.
