in my pockets

i dreamed many dreams
of her, all left untouched
like new thoughts,
she carries well in my pockets,
a tidy little place to keep her
all dressed in lint and memories,

i enjoy taking her out
to play with her,
seeking that closeness in these days,
watching her eyes adjust to the light,
outside where she can breathe,

even outside, her smile is blue,
her eyes she hides away from me,
i think i have held onto her
far much longer than i needed to,
it breaks my heart to do so
but i release her,
let her find a new place to be held,
i am busy sewing up all my pockets.

Author's Note
i read one of LilDragonFly's latest poems. in her notes, she mentions tony hoagland. i went out of curiousness and read a few of his poems. his style was refreshing to me. i can not do what he does, but i wrote this poem with hope of improving myself everyday, learning more. thanks to Lil and tony hoagland for the help i may have been needing.
