A Solitary Daisy
Planted along a worn rickety fence
In the front yard of a paint peeled white house
Stands a solitary daisy
Among blades of grass taller than she
A waft of her feint cheerful scent
Carried by the warm summer morning breeze
Brushes past me as I bend to bend to pick her
I am amazed at the simplicity she radiates
Graceful, dainty petals swaying
Strong, rooted stem giving way
I tenderly place her in my long, curly fire hair
Humbled by her innocence
I seemingly become to be as pure as she
In the front yard of a paint peeled white house
Stands a solitary daisy
Among blades of grass taller than she
A waft of her feint cheerful scent
Carried by the warm summer morning breeze
Brushes past me as I bend to bend to pick her
I am amazed at the simplicity she radiates
Graceful, dainty petals swaying
Strong, rooted stem giving way
I tenderly place her in my long, curly fire hair
Humbled by her innocence
I seemingly become to be as pure as she

When poetry takes your heart,, it's when Nature reveals her beauty,
like a lady who caresses gentle flower among thorny weeds !!!
Your words bring soft breeze in these summer days

I don't know if you know, but the name of the flower in mediaeval English meant "day's eye", which has made me look at daisies in a more noble light.

This is beautiful, Mary because (from my poetic perspective) it harks back to a more innocent time perhaps, when your preoccupation was in picking daisies rather than picking fights, with troubles seemingly far away. To me, this write is embryonic 'Her' beginning her quest for world domination, lol. Maybe not but I hope you remind yourself of this sweet little girl from time to time and always find a little space to give her some much needed self-love too. After all, it's you who taught me that. 😊
