Memory's Light
Memory's Light
By the light of your memory
playing repetitiously in my mind
serves for warmth to a heart and soul gone cold
refusing to leave you behind.
I do not want to leave you behind.
I have felt your hold on me multiple times.
I have felt our growing merge.
I cultivate a land gone barren long ago,
everything planted shriveled and dead.
I dream dreams of another time.
They, whomever they are, say sometimes dreams come true.
I hope absent of expectations
that there will ever be a me,
a you,
not again.
But walk with me just one more time before I go.
Let us walk to that golden sunset,
closure of what we had before.
Let us go out once more, genuine.
Sunsets only last for a little while.
I hear soft music playing as we walk into that setting sun.
Maybe by some miracle you do as well.
Silhouettes for a moment, together for a millisecond,
then swallowed whole.
Then goodbye.
Ah yes, eternal are we.....here.
