Goodbye
Every time my heart breaks by your hand,
You have a way of bringing me back to you,
Forcing my brain to understand,
Things you say I should already have knew.
I can't keep up to you,
I can't reach your love...
I won't let you close enough to hurt me,
I'll keep you far away from my heart.
No I can't ever come close to be,
What you need of me, I knew that from the start.
Yet I kept reaching for you're warm embrace,
Kept begging at your feet for attention.
For just a flavor of love, just a taste,
Though I don't fit your version of love's definition...
No, I won't rescue you to just leave me, I won't try
To be whatever it is you're looking for,
I've found that it's time to say goodbye
To you and your love, of that I'm sure.

This poem hits home on so many levels. I have been in this type of situation more times than none. This poem completely and excellently encompasses the struggles that come with loving someone that just can't seem to muster the energy to love you back. You really tugged at my heart strings with this one! Brilliant!!!!

I am very glad you could relate to this. Every time I seem to be in a relationship or seem to love another they just cannot feel the same way or they choose not to reciprocate my emotions, so I just finally was like, 'TIME TO WRITE'. > <
