What might be scarier is asking the question if the mafia has already infiltrated or are influencing elected officials.

Oh, they run the place. A few years back a new Chief (or mayor, whatever) was elected. He was going to take care of the problem. Barely in office, the phone rings, he's given one hour to get out of town. Enough time to get his wife and kids and get out..........then they burned his house down.
