Talent
It's not what you have,
but your willingness to try;
to work and to give.
It's an unpopular opinion,
but I would go as far as to say that
most 'talent' consists of
interest + opportunity + application.
We all have much to offer.

when i used to teach chess to kids who didn't even know that the Knight was called,
for me, and for their classmates who chose not to sign up for chess,
talent was a seed awaiting nurturing.
i suspect You are talking about adults but why does an opinion have to be limited, eh?
i like this short THOUGHT expressed
it caused me to think of the kids i used to teach chess to many years ago.
If anything, i thank You for conjuring up these memories i treasure.

Pleased to make your acquaintance, this is an interesting little read in regards to talent, it reminds me of that saying "Jack of all trades, master of none" some people have carefully focused talents they feed and nurture, where as others have a natural way of turning their hands and minds to anything without thinking over it, beneath this write and in your closing lines I think it says it all, there is no definition of what a talent is or whether it's right or wrong, it's an endless cycle we all adventure and evolve through, the only wrong way in life is when a human being begins to stop themselves from learning but that's just humble opinion of course, this was a thought provoking write for all different stages in life, the ending line very much struck all the cords.

I'm a music teacher, and parents constantly talk about talent, ask if their child is talented, etc. I just find it so irrelevant... as in many spheres of life, good teaching, opportunity, the correct equipment (instrument) are far more important and will get them where they want to go. Yes, some have a higher natural ceiling than others. Doesn't matter... all can be helped to learn and enjoy.

This said it all for me. This is a philosophy for our time. Too much looking at aptitude tests and not enough at the raw human potential. I forget who said it but talent is mostly working at it or something like that.
