Patterns
life is full of patterns
the kinds that lead to places
you'd never venture through
way the lights create halos of colors in the middle of the night
places you should never stop in if you are a certain color(you don't get to choose)
you don't belong here man
don't put that window down
you shout through it
quick as lightening
you get the fuck out
night suddenly lights up
with sharp shades of red and blue and you're surrounded
black tarmac smooth as silk
with that beautiful yellow ribbon running down the center
guiding you to another nowhere
you slide into ramp curves
where life is never a complete circle of wisdom
just a short run that takes you down more streets sitting empty under the glares of eyes constantly changing
red yellow green
run into an empty soul house
where clothes are piled inside the door
window glass cracked casting fragmented shattered dreams
large snake of colorful debris
wrapped around table legs
floor alive with tangled mess
the end of which lies
golden eyes catching wisps of light he's a ripped powerful growling mass
who doesn't recognize you in the black of night where you hesitate
sniffing out fear
how did things get to here
food in piles
plates sit stained empty
piled high in stainless steel
every where you look life is a mess so colorful you can smell it
creeping quietly as possible to not wake the lion that is mother
who was waiting for your return under piles of blankets you can barely make out her figure
her breath the only thing visible
coldness seeps through the air with each exhale gray on black
smoke swirls
where you cave at her feet
not able to move further through thick debris tapestry of a life
not chosen
hanging restless eyes wide open
slipping back while hers are still closed so she can't see you leaving for something more better
grass is greener on the other side if you're not there to fuck it up
are apologies the right color now at this moment
will they change the color of the night sky long enough to catch that golden star
in rapid red heart beats
where you dream to break this damn cycle
you climb through that door leaving all those colorful scents wafting where souls scream and wail at the indifference
where craning your neck out leaves you open and vulnerable
still full of hope that those golden twinkling stars can show you the way until that bright disc slides over that black horizon lighting up a new world where the answers aren't always a tear stained no
where the train stops momentarily for weary legs pulsing under the weight of all things that weigh you down no more
climbing those three steps to freedom
there's a new taste of crumpled brown leather where your body has never sat yet it feels like you've always been here in this place called destiny
where the answers are easier to come by where there's no need to stop if you don't want to you keep going and going past the maybes that float in the windows mirroring the reflections of early morning with her red orange blues
few stars still shine where taste somehow looks sweeter where destination is a choice not a question of the time spent waiting on so many dark nights to change all your damn answers to YES
