Image for the poem A God

A God's Envy?

Sometimes I wonder
If the gods are envious of us
Of the people made in their image

Because we are different than them
We own individuality

But, the gods are what makes up us
So doesn’t that mean that everything
that makes us unique they also share?

They don’t have a singular trait
That they do not share with mankind.

So sometimes I wonder,
Are the gods envious?

Envious of the way our voices
sing melodies all different and true?

Envious of the way our bodies are all different
and made of the nebulas and stardust that brought us here?

Envious of the ignorant way we live life
Peacefully,
Unknowingly,
And beautifully.

So sometimes I wonder,
What makes the gods envious of us?

Author's Note
This is another one of my older poems lol. I'm just going to go ahead and post as many of my old ones that I can find because I love just sharing my work. But in this poem, I was just practically questioning whether or not the gods are envious of the individuality we have. It's also questioning how we see gods because we are all supposedly made from them or created from them somehow so all these little different pieces of the god/creator or whatever there might be, they're us. And then that god would no longer have any traits it doesn't share with mankind. So would he/she/it get jealous of our ability to be ignorantly unique?
