Not 1960, 1968, or 1980
It is with a bit of pain that I have to say
that when this Kennedy calls my instinct is to stay away
I do so heavy of heart
for idealism and realism pull me apart
Probably inclined to vote for JFK if alive back in time
not that his candidacy would be a perfect find
or perhaps his excessive warnings of thwarting the USSR
would have been a strong enough blemish on this Democratic Star
But with events testing his intellect
admirable attributes from advisors that could reflect
heard the call to engage on Civil Rights
realizing all that Hoover did couldn't be right
His next brother Bobby would have found me all in
dad was a Bobby guy and would be wearing a grin
I have often been sad about that fateful June night
gone was a political mover with bright light
Teddy tried to run eight years before I could vote
from the start his chances so remote
certainly in the senate a record stellar
but the fire wasn't there and his bid was in the cellar
Come along Bobby's son
really don't see how he puts Biden on the run
institutionally Biden has the party approval secure
not enough will be convinced to take a detour
Bobby Jr. is a steward of the environment a noble resume
making sure in court clean world would have a say
but linking vaccine supporters to Nazi behavior and acts
leads me to think he lacks a certain tact
Realistically the Kennedy clan's influence has waned
not as much respect and credit linked to the family name
for today even his siblings aren't on board
Bobby Junior perhaps even being a discordant chord
Biden doesn't come across as aligned with my views
much too water under the bridge in examining his historical news
but what it will take to generate the party's blessing a dream
for sure any effort against an incumbent won't be clean
For too many embedded power sources
Herculean energy needed to combat the forces
it prevents a voice from changing party behavior
capitalism on steroids so in favor
So here although I will always love much of what dad did
I will be inclined to say no to this presidential bid
and I speak as someone so starving a new way
not confident that enough momentum will accompany what he has to say

By some measures even Biden is too conservative, but he got my vote because he wasn't he whose name must not be spoken.
I know it's a bummer to keep voting for the lesser of two evils but until the electorate wises up about just what's actually good for everyone then we will keep getting offered the usual uninspiring candidates.

I look at the last two presidential elections as the worst in my lifetime in terms of the candidates from the two major parties. I have no issues with anyone who voted for Biden or decided to vote for someone else. Both parties embrace the Kissinger doctrine which disgusts me.
For me there are connections that are conveniently downplayed and ignored. Elections don't happen in a vacuum. Politicians feed off of sentiment, which is amplified by media currents. Add to that the wide segment of folks that have no faith at all in any political movement. There were always deficits in political dialogues but I can say when I was younger and impressionable there were a few civil minded people I looked to with admiration. I don't know that younger generations feel that way.
For me there are connections that are conveniently downplayed and ignored. Elections don't happen in a vacuum. Politicians feed off of sentiment, which is amplified by media currents. Add to that the wide segment of folks that have no faith at all in any political movement. There were always deficits in political dialogues but I can say when I was younger and impressionable there were a few civil minded people I looked to with admiration. I don't know that younger generations feel that way.

Americans are by and large a socially retarded lot with the older baby boomers turning out to be the worst of all, particularly with Kissinger in their mix. Of course that's painting with a broad brush, but that's always been the name of the political game, which is why I tend to focus on what is inclusionary compared to exclusionary when analyzing the rhetoric, policy, and procedures of the choices that we are given, bearing in mind that third party offerings usually weaken the other choices without actually winning themselves a general election.
It would help if the electorate became more media and language savvy, which I think is actually happening with the younger generations right now, and so I think things will improve somewhat after a few more years go by giving Father Time a chance to eat away at the statistical lead traditionally enjoyed by monoculturally educated seniors.
I look forward to a more cosmopolitan America, since it is in those social milieus where better ideas tend to percolate to the surface the political field.
