Without Anesthesia

Listening to the dark rains
of Wolfgang Amadeus's trivial
playing not gently on the ivories
without anesthesia cocaine
as the raven pecked out her eyes
stripped of clothing, no arms or legs
naked as the shadow
once chanced upon a lovely
locked into my naïveté
when mannequins talked
now faceless in the window
as the twilight fades
and God swallows the key
in my delirium
with no way to escape,
screaming, Lenore
