BOUDOIR SHOTS
Boudoir shots
give me hots
when I see
your body
clad in lace,
all in place
(save the strand
in one hand
of your hair),
shoulders bare,
legs curled round
on the ground
or crawling
on quilting
of a bed
(four-postered).
You become
more than 'Mum'
and 'the wife'
in my life.
Sexy side
they don't hide.
Makes me fall
back in thrall,
as in days
of young ways,
to your charm.....

Author's Note
I first heard of the fashion for boudoir pics among women in the late 1980s. This poem was inspired after a DUP poet told me she had some done, one of which (filtered) was the basis of her avatar. Written from POV of a husband whose wife has done some as a birthday treat.

Lol. Yeah, they aren’t about gifting a man. They’re about feeling like a deity in your own skin. Reclaiming your female power. Don’t ever let anyone fool you. Boudoir shots aren’t for men. 😇
But I loved the delicious way the subject was seen with new eyes. That IS important. We frequently forget how amazing what we have is, and seeing it with new eyes is beautiful.

Thank you overall. Yes, some women have that done for "their eyes only" to keep them reminded, especially as they grow older, but I am also aware they may gift them to partners as a personal wedding or birthday present or as a spur in the relationship.
I did consider having equivalent shots done of me in the year I reached my present decade (having got fitter in the meantime) but the covid pandemic scuppered my search for a willing local photographer, doh.
