When You Went Away

Stepping down the road
I've commited to memory
Breaking recollections
Like a fist into a mirror

Walking alone again
I understand the journey
Just sing me down the path
We'll play follow the leader

A dark rider, I am afraid but I go
Nothing to see, a heartbeat away
Hear the pulse and I feel you again
Spin the pendulum and ask again

Stepping across that gap
Between you and I
Words never slipped
They flow like a river

Flooding in, between tears and terror
Guide me, lead me, just don't leave me
The room grows cold
And I begin to shiver

A dark rider, I am afraid but I go
Nothing to see, a heartbeat away
Hear the pulse and I feel you again
Spin the pendulum and ask again

Twitch to life
Lost in the spiral
Swimming in the ether
Drowning in absinthe

No more fear
I am here and you will answer
You died in silence
Now scream to me

Twitch to life
Lost in the spiral
Swimming in the ether
Drowning in absinthe

And I can understand
Why you left me
Can you understand
Why I need you

Tired and worn of the mortality
Take me this time, let me feel it
Callous but fragile all the same
Take me this time and let me bear it!

A dark rider, I am afraid but I go
Nothing to see, a heartbeat away
Hear the pulse and I feel you again
Spin the pendulum and ask again

I ask again
