The Naiad-Water Nymph

I hovered above
A moonlit pool
My wings reflected
In the rippling cool

I slowly pirouetted upwards
Into the blue velvet night
The bright looming moon
As i pondered beneath its glowing light

And as quick as a flick
Of an eyelash
I dived into the pool
With barely a splash

Deeper, and deeper i swam
Seeking my watery nest
Guided by the strange moonlight
My spirit engulfed by a piquant zest

The water lillies greet me
Nodding their heads in the pools soft glow
My wings' shiny luminescence
Guide me with their glow

I surge up to the surface
For one more parting glance
Capturing the magic of the moment
As i watch the fairies dance

Then dive back down to my nymph world
To rest my weary head
The water lilies are my pillows
And the water is my bed
