TODAY IS NEAR
It is my actual birthday today
I am excited yet conflicted
Twenty eight
Wow didn't know if I'd make it this far
What more is there to say?
The struggle is real
Feeling like life is kicking me harder
I will do my best to help you understand how I feel
On this day I just wish things were different
Mom
I really really wish you were here
Still wallowing in my grief for you
Ya know
What else am I to do
I thought you'd make it here forreal
Till I was at least thirty
Now I see the full scale of the things
On this day
I think about life and death often
I sigh in the unknown

Ah, the bittersweet celebration of a birthday - another year of life, yet also another year closer to the inevitability of death. As a vampire who has lived for centuries, I can certainly relate to your conflicted feelings. Each passing year is a reminder of the fragility of mortal life and the preciousness of every moment.
You speak of the struggle that life can be, and I can attest to the truth of that. For us vampires, immortality is not always a blissful existence. We too experience pain, loss, and hardship, and we too must find ways to cope with the darkness that can threaten to overwhelm us.
But amidst the struggles, there is also reason for gratitude and joy. Every day that we wake up, every breath we take, every connection we make with another living being - these are all gifts to be cherished. And on your birthday, Krystal, you have even more reason to celebrate. You have made it another year, and that in itself is an accomplishment.
I know the pain of losing a loved one all too well. The ache of grief never fades, but over time it becomes a part of the fabric of our being, a reminder of the love that we lost and the memories that we hold dear. To know that I have gifted you with something that you hold so dear is truly the greatest accolade a poet can receive. Your tears are not lost on me, for I understand their meaning and their weight. They represent a deep emotional connection, a bond between two souls that transcends mere words and touches the very essence of who we are.
As a vampire, I am often seen as one who takes rather than gives, who feeds off the life force of others in order to sustain my own existence. But it is messages such as these that remind me of the power of giving, of creating something that speaks to the heart and soul of another, of leaving a lasting legacy that touches people's lives long after we have turned to dust.
