Autumnal Breath

She isn’t known for a most pleasant breeze
her long claws can be razor sharp
her blustery kiss is measured in degrees
and sounds not like an angel’s harp

with a wave of her hand she raises the dead
the colourful corpses flutter about
for All Hallows’ eve holds no dread
compared to her tempestuous shout

balanced on the edge of an ice knife
summer now lies so cold and quiet
Autumn’s sullen shouts scurry away life
and leaves behind an eye catching riot

you push ever forward though you be bent
so stay strong and just grin and bare it
but it doesn’t matter which way you’ve leant
all of your curses she doesn’t merit

winter looks on and spring does not care
they have both seen her tantrums before
she goes where she wills, here and there
and you’ll still be frozen to the core
