Dreams

the small distance between me and you
espied daughter of the turning water
is not near as great as what the crows flew
when I worshiped you under heaven’s altar

blue-green stripes danced in pirouettes
while they dressed the mistress of the dark
innumerable angels lifted up the moon
to sculpt her wan smile in a curious arc

blades of grass swayed in the night breeze
the stars looked on with mystical glee
your soft affections I accepted with ease
with the sweetness of a lone honey bee

trees and shadows waltz in the silence
fireflies write your name in the air
shooting stars mark my sky for guidance
as the dreams of you take me there

your love sifts me like sand through fingers
and it is as endless as the rolling ocean
as daylight nears and night barely lingers
my soul resonates with your devotion

“the moon winked at me with intention
dawn clouds smiled at me with a blush
I dreamt that love was our invention
