arranged marriage

She asked, "must I insist?"
without speaking

Crawling out from under
the torment of her laughter
she got an answer-
to resist
is as ineffective as
abstinence
or relapse prevention

I swore to her service by
inspecting the deep violets
of her womb
and as
the beauty and violence
beneath her eyelids
burglarized my will
I surmised it was a fair deal

Obligated to die a thousand deaths
if she wished
I exist now only in inflamed
flights of fancy
and with every stone toss
she decides my step or skid
on an electrified hopscotch grid

Led to these demands
like a starved hound
humming through the hunger
I survive alone on appetite
and

she supplies and rescinds
as the tornados winds simply twirl
