Skin And Bones
there’s a crack in her sanity
that’s how the light gets away
her skin remains but not vanity
between a love and hate replay
an ineffable distance separates
I can sense you and I’m at ease
memory’s pain still conjugates
like the tickle of ivory keys
a dream hides in an empty closet
hear the creak of a rusty hinge
faded notes configure a composite
just this side of the lunatic fringe
rotten flesh took all that she owns
she cannot rise from where she prays
darkness shines to reveal faded bones
her only skeleton still sits and plays
