Important Is It?

It is the human bond and connection
that is the focal point of intimacy
and not just the sex
that provides the spice of life

At least that is the bane of contact
holds true for the first
valid during the trek in the desert of Covid
and holds fast in the present

For both my first and a few occasions later
I felt empty afterwards
as if something was missing
incomplete even with the most sizzling intercourse

Never that sense of regret
in the afterglow of cuddling
a serene wash of being where I should be
and looking forward to further encounters

That is not to say that being as animalistic
as anyone that constant cuddling and nothing more
would suffice
but rather that they are connected

For never have nights of cuddling gone
very long without the impetus to do more striking
a link that is free and easy
uncomplicated and organic

Some will say this is a paradox or and contradiction
I simply suggest that
making love and having sex don't have to be separate
but aren't de facto the same
