We grow up
Being told to be ourselves
To not try
To be someone we aren’t
To be proud
Of whom we really are
To stand by
What we believe in
But they tell us
How we are supposed to act
They make us
Into a stereotype
They stifle
What makes us different
They force
Their beliefs to become ours
So now
We start to wonder
Is this
What I really think?
Is this
How I really act?
Is this
Who I really am?
How
do you find yourself

socialization of children, teen, young adults to fit into the mold society expects them to follow...and this is done at an age that the child cannot fight....this is why a young adult has to find themselves through rebellion against the beliefs he or she was raised with....

Thank you. i'm really not sure what style this would be called though. I usually choose a rythym for my poems based on the mood and content, but without a structure in mind. Unfortunately, i've never been one to pay close attention to the many names of styles.
