Image for the poem the long shadow of silence

the long shadow of silence

you talk to me in metaphors
when in reality I need things straight
the shadows of your greed press in
and I fight for the light

your hardened demeanor excites me
you spoke to me with silence
the most powerful way you could speak to me

I was aware of myself then
your eyes glaring focused on my insecurities
I was small in your stare

tell me a riddle
let my sins be secret
