Sharing Our Inheritance
We barely know our own bodies,
stationed as we are on this strange planet.
I draw you in with athletic precision,
thankful for the uninhibited dancing
I learned in childhood.
As lightning anticipates the clap of thunder,
light in your eyes tells me it’s happening.
In this moment of your coming, we share an inheritance.
All the gifts from those who’ve come before
converge in these ecstatic jolts,
bringing new bonds and release from ourselves.
