Falling Sideways

A dream docked to my waking canvas
Planet Sedna trapped in Coventry Cathedral
Stained glass window, razed by Luftwaffe

In solitary slip-stream of solar system
Is the earth the loneliest planet?
Comets’ tails are eyelids, open
To the orbit of those things once
Started, can never be stopped

Blood washed from the sea
Transposed into a pavement puddle,
Fragments of Dead Sea scroll
Flotsam abreast water of a bath

First mug of morning coffee
Rests motionless on the retina,
Palimpsest of a ghosted lipstick
Traces the taste of two tongues.

The house being empty, but
Her hands open and shut doors
Return candles to window frames.
Moves like Jesus on a high wire.

In bedside manners, reach for phrases,
Inking my way towards mental spaces.
First burst of sun burns the early morning mist
Weeps through crusts of dying planets

Sedna watches her off-spring’s wings
Take flight to other corners,
Beyond saurian heart-prints.
This has a name, but let's call it nameless.

Silently
Haunted breathes
Coved treasure,
In solace -
Compassed are the
Points set in stone
