She Pondered
It’s what we do as humans, isn’t it?
Compare and contrast the good, the bad and the ugly. It makes us feel better, doesn’t it?
Helping ourselves ease the disappointment of what we perceive we don’t have, versus those whom we perceive TO have, right?
Proverbial grass is greener theory, until the veneer cracks. Dark truths ooze out. As vultures we swoop in to pick the flesh from the rotting corpses. Why?

This makes me think on a quote I saw "For those who have and who have not, have can we live with what we've got"
It also makes me think deeper about things. Thank you for sharing your pondering.

Thank you so much for this wonderfully thoughtful comment and RL add. My wish for all is seeing self value and cherishing it but some days that’s a bit overwhelming. Thank you again. H🌷

Thought provoking...
Contrasts lead me down quite a meditative path...
I was recently thinking about...
The nature of wealth...
Perhaps the primary basis of grass is greener thinking...

Thinking about the nature of wealth and outdoing the Jones’. The grass is never greener. All illusion.

The belief that life can better and not wanting to feel like you've settled so to say? I kind of see it as a positive? Unless well... you downgrade from Tall Fescue to Bermudagrass... 🤨 I don't know, it's 545am and I can't stay in sleep mode.

Dear LJ,
Yes. It can feel as “settling” or missing out on something. Yet, if an inventory is taken and really looking at all the accomplishments big and small are listed it’s amazing. Until I wish I’d ordered the Bermudagrass instead of the Tall Fescue 😊

So true and yet I’m left to wonder why we aren’t more open to supporting the good for someone else, or lifting the spirits of someone considered well off or lucky? And here I am to confess I’m guilty of the very thing I ponder. Alas…

Yes, we are an odd species. Expectations not being met may be our worst attribute.
We all experience burdens, loss, lifespan and emotions. Wouldn’t it be wonderful when something positive happens, all could just be happy for all.

Doesn't matter how green the grass is, it still turns yellow when the dogs piss on it. 😆😆
Seriously, it's a good contemplation. We love nothing better than to see the "greener grass" people fall. We're pretty disgusting that way. My mantra in this (and basically all things) is, "it's not about me". Because dammit, if I let myself, I will make EVERYTHING about me. No exceptions.
Thanks for taking us along on your pondering.

Very astute observation. Competitive Human nature – a form of natural selection. Nature’s predators thin herd by feeding on the sick and weak. Thankfully there are a few that nurture rather than prey.

Because somewhere deep down, we retain a primordial wet spot in our DNA. And no matter how we suppress it, no matter how repugnant it was back then, some people still thrive in it, and become ravenous.
Unfortunately.
Hang in there H. We need your wisdom and guidance from such scavengers!

Dear R,
I like that thought of binding ends. I have a literal and spiritual vision of that😊. It’s a day to day approach for me. In attempting to break the habit of comparisons I try to place other thoughts in my mind of gratitude. Some days I’m more successful than others at this. Thank you so much for your thoughtful response. It’s very meaningful to me and I’m so grateful to you. H🌷

In the theme for frustration, this also bring out some philosophical ponderings not just about the self but on how we also operate as a society referring to the haves and have nots.
Thought provoking spill to say the least.

I like that this ends on a one-word question. It’s very effective. The theme of this poem is quite apposite for me at the moment, looking with jealousy at writers who’ve been published much younger than me!

Hi H!
This makes me think. I know a lot of people who concern themselves with what
they don't have instead of what they do. Most priceless things are free - like love and true friendship.
To appreciate everything - even the bad because you
learn from it. Great piece to get my mind moving:)
Thanks for posting!

Dear A,
So true, love and friendship are all that matters yet, stuff, stuff and more stuff seem to be the goal for a lot of folks I know. I’ve learned the most from the pain I received in learning life lessons so I agree with that thought also. I think we’re sharing the same brain 😊
Seeing your lovely face and comment are an “RL” gift enough but I know what you mean. I’m in the same boat. I don’t think I quite understand why there’s a limit? xx

Re. She Pondered
Hi there, Honoria :)
Maybe it's sort of like the lowest common denominator of human behavior, right up there with those who feel they have to slow down to really get a good look at the the car accident as they drive by, making traffic come to at a veritable standstill. There's actual effort and work (albeit not a whole lot) in taking the opportunity to extend kindnesses or to choose to be understanding and helpful versus tearing it all apart because one can. Yes we all have those deep crevices within the darkest part of ourselves, that feeds on our worst impulses.... Hopefully, we make the better decision to steer ourselves towards the light.... but I can relate to slipping back into oblivion once in a great while.
Being human, making mistakes.... yeah, that's me, all right.
I appreciate and applaud your thought process and how you broached this topic within your poem. It makes for an outstanding back and forth exchange.
I've missed you and hope you are doing well, dear lady
Love and hugs,
🌹 💙

Dear BV,
People slowing down to gawk at others misfortunes are the worst. Human is as human does I suppose. We’re all fallible in the end. I think it’s those who can at least acknowledge the sliver of light and turn towards have a fighting chance. Some day I’ll do that😔
Meanwhile, it’s wonderful to see you. You’ve been terribly missed. Thank you for your lovely comment and thoughts. They are so meaningful to me.

We are much like vultures in the end yeah? The "vulture" has become one of my favorite spirit animals in fact. Lots of symbolism there. Keep writing!😌💜

Re: Re. She Pondered
No problem! Glad I can help give some insight! I love the idea of studying spirit animals. The vulture once popped up in a Tarot reading of mine. Ever since, I look at it with such beauty instead of "ugly". It's like yes they are scary on the out side but they honestly symbolism much more beauty than we realize. (I know this probably isn't what you were going for in your write but, I thought I'd share my thoughts on this animals anyway!). Thank you for your sweet reply, it truly touched my heart😌💜
