MISTINGUETT

Do not forget
your Mistinguett
my dear Mauri:
come back to me!
I shall demand
the Allemand
will not keep you
too long from view.

Author's Note
Imagined poetic love letter from Mistinguett to Maurice Chevalier. Name was the poetry prompt. The French actress/singer/dancer Mistinguett (real name Jeanne Bourgeois) (1873-1956) had a longstanding relationship with fellow performer, actor-singer Maurice Chevalier (1888-1972), 13 years her junior. Their relationship included his military service in WWI when he was a POW of the Germans for 2 years until released on the intervention of the King of neutral Spain, who was also an admirer of Mistinguett. Wikipedia picture is of her as a Moulin Rouge dancer.
