Excerpts from a talk on the Tajitu (a little long)
a blind man finds the feminine inside
While I'm in complete agreement with you, I find the term 'feminine' to be incredibly limiting, over used and mis-used when talking about the balance of the Tajitu. I personally would never use the term 'feminine' to describe the immense scope of spirituality, though I would also never perceive it's use in a negative way if someone else used it. It's all about balance but the words I associate with balance might be a little different than yours. Most humbly yours
Feminine… the receptive acceptance of primordial being
Yes, receptive, welcoming, forgiving, passivity, etc. but I still think the term is misogynistic based on traditional sexual roles and male dominated subservience. Labels are static and the Tajitu not, so even as we try to understand the concept, we ruin it. Sorry, I'm just a little sick of everyone trying to anthropomorphize abstract concepts or ideological ideas [such as God/ Jesus]. Nothing is more ludicrous than people arguing about Jesus' skin color but I digress.... I'm going to stick with the little gods of coffee makers, tv remote controls, and cell phones. Now there's some gods you would never want to piss off.... In case I haven't said before, you have my deepest respect and I'm extremely sorry for this rant.
do you feel that Taijitu symbols/diagrams are more pure in what they attempt to communicate ?
The Tajitu diagrams confuses the eff out of me, I love the symmetry of the Yin/Yang symbol as it suits my mind the best [which is, of course, still irrelevant]. I can explain it best with an analogy: A string of numbers is meaningless but a string of numbers indicating latitude and longitude is not. We look at a map and say we found it, but have we? Have we tasted the air on our tongues, walked on the ground, or know anything about the plants and animals that live there? Of course we haven't found a thing and that is why all symbols and diagrams fail. You can't know the Tajitu until you've been there, you can't know anything until you do it. Another analogy: This is my secret for why I am like I am, I know death, I was a long time rock climber and have carried my share of dying climbers off climbs to see and know it BUT I also came so close to death soloing that I knew I was dead, not that I was going to die but already dead. So, death doesn't scare me but I'm still in no hurry. Yet another: I'll tell you what scares me the most, the total giving of myself to another person. You see, I don't have a vagina but only by experiencing the welcoming embrace as someone enters your body and mind can you know the yin [as I imagine it]. I can talk about it all day long but I will never know the yin. .... All symbols, diagrams, and terminology have value, they are all street signs as we look for a strange address and I think they are all equally valuable. What works for me is sound, my whole body vibrates with sound, cellos in particular resonate the most, that is my heaven on earth. And I'm talking about the notes and not the music here [just to be clear]. God this is effing long. I once had an out of body experience mediating in the absence of sound. I mean nothing, no street noises, insects, birds BUT it was my attempt to HEAR and follow that nothingness that helped me leave my body. Took a long time before I felt normal again, I mean it took frick'n days. My deepest and most gracious bow S L
