Life is a Canvas

We're born and it's empty
Pure and white, ready for anything
We struggle with where to go and what to do
So foundational colors are presented
Colors we don't worry about at first
Because we think we can work with them later on
And still end with a beautiful image
But as we grow older
Those colors are distorted and faded
We try to add brighter colors
but inevitably this only makes the image darker
We get frustrated and throw it in the corner
Giving up, feeling no way out of the choices we've made
But with patience everything settles
Our canvas will never be as bright as before
But with careful decision and planning we can find a way
To bring a little of that brightness back
Through the chaos of it all
After the tears and frustration, and disdain
We will be able to one day look at this canvas
And see everything that went into it
To us, it will be beautiful
Everything we wanted it to be
Because it's a product of our heart
It's our life's work

A piece that can show you beauty in the haze
