Untitled x
he came in
a slow moving storm
voice that reminds you
of something so soothing
free of form
warm honey
"come in, she said I'll give ya shelter from the storm."
full of openness
she studies his hands
stories on the tips
of every finger
steady
"come in, she said I'll give ya shelter from the storm.
his gaze is long
waiting for any discrepancy
in hers
that could send him back
into that atmospheric
pressure
"come in, she said I'll give ya shelter from the storm."
she takes his hand in hers
holding without holding
full of comfort
warmth
place to rest his weary soul
bearing all
"come in, she said I'll give ya shelter from the storm"
rhythmic dance
words hanging in the air
floating free
hushed voices surrender
to the waning hours
"come in, she said I'll give ya shelter from the storm"
it had been 29 years
since he had rested
his trust in anyone's heart
a scary proposition
her hands remain open
"come in, she said I'll give ya shelter from the storm"
too weary to carry on
he found his head
resting in her lap
where he could finally
have a peaceful rest
under her watchful gentle gaze
"come in, she said I'll give ya shelter from the storm"
never had he known
such kind comfort from
a complete stranger
those simple words
forever etched upon his soul
"come in, she said I'll give ya shelter from the storm"
he knew he could always return
that she would not cause harm
she was his safe haven
in this crazy fucked up world
that had had his heart on the run
she embraced him
that's all he had ever wanted
or needed
a nice long rest
in the comfort of love
the words were always there
and true
"come in, she said I'll give ya shelter from the storm"
