Smoldering

So much in a name
Too much to save the soul
It's so hard to see sometimes
The difference in someone's demons
And their ghosts

All I am within me
Burns for what choices you forced onto me
Did you ever really love me
Or just teach me loss
Is the only true freedom?

I can see the faith
Still smoldering in your eyes
But as many times
As we say hello
There can only be
One last goodbye

Wishing well
Short one penny
Brief reflections and recollections
Are all that's left of you

Prayer beads
Rubbed down to string
Solidarity as strong
As the ring you
Wear around your finger

Smoke sheltered
Beneath the hood, much like
The pain harboured
Inside the hollow of your soul

i can see the faith
Still smoldering in your eyes
But as many times
As we say hello
There can only be
One last goodbye

The only one I called my own
The only place I ever called home
The one who left me all alone
The one who took a life, to reveal
The only light shining, is just the one
The one we have yet to switch off

I can still see the life
Smoldering in your eyes
But as many times
As we say hello
There can only be
One last goodbye
