Who I Am

I was only 16, when everything
was so grey to me.
Even now it doesn't seem, like things
have changed from what I see.

Jim and Jack were
my only friends then.
I will never go back
to those days again
the bottle has finally run dry

I'm as sober as
I've ever been.
I'm no longer scared
of this life I'm livin in.

I use to be so cold
and dead inside.
Almost completely drained
of life.

I should of prayed,
and decided to stay.
But instead I got lost
along the way.

I was so far gone,
that I lost the light.
Now, its completely
out of sight.

All your lies
make me wanna die.
Now, I see the truth
within your cold empty eyes.

You were never there
no you never cared.
But that's okay
cuz I'm moving on to
another day.

Cuz I'm stronger than
I've ever been
I'm no longer scared
of this life I'm livin in.

I've been up and down
this long hard road once or twice before
I've been up and down
and all around and everywhere in between

I've been down on my
knees praying, but
still I find no
I've had your love I've had your
hate but I refuse
to share your fate, because this is who I
am and this is
what I believe
I am no longer deceived

the road gets longer
and the nights are getting colder
but that's ok
I know exactly who I am

I know exactly
exactly who I am

Author's Note
I wrote this song probably 15 years ago. I was dealing with a lot of self reflection issues, lot of drinking. Thinking about my younger days and my mistakes. How I have over come all that to be who I am today.
