Same Tree
Kill each other over our religions
End other lives for what we believe
We have taken men
Hung them right up there
For the color of their skin
Right up in our tree
That tree we carved our names into
Heart with an arrow
Shot clean through
I can't forget him
I can't forget them
I hope you never will
Hate them for what they believe in
Hates me back for the very same
Take these guns onto the fields
Our blood runs onto its leaves
Those leaves that fell so beautifully in autumn
This cool crisp morning won't let us be
Live and die
Love or hate
Our leaves fall from the same damn tree!
End other lives for what we believe
We have taken men
Hung them right up there
For the color of their skin
Right up in our tree
That tree we carved our names into
Heart with an arrow
Shot clean through
I can't forget him
I can't forget them
I hope you never will
Hate them for what they believe in
Hates me back for the very same
Take these guns onto the fields
Our blood runs onto its leaves
Those leaves that fell so beautifully in autumn
This cool crisp morning won't let us be
Live and die
Love or hate
Our leaves fall from the same damn tree!
