I've been compared to Basquiat before.  It's a high honor.
I wonder if bullshit fame and being used by Warhol did him in ?
Nobody talks about that much.  Overdosing was like a fad then as now actually.

We was sincere in the comment, it's a praise that you earned. Within all areas of talent there will be the hanger on, the users. They usually have the knowledge but not the talent, so they resort to using those with the talent.

Warhol is an enigma.
He had his moments but he used a lot of people indeed.

I can call abstract paintings the " Math Arts ".  
The more the painting is closer to Nature the more it is good and acceptabme.

Ah the beautiful spiral of love captured in art. The darkness, the light, the twirling about... Perfectly placed elements. I love the micron pen expression contained within in the painting. Says a lot with one word. Art definitely has a voice, it's speaks to me.

It often finds me and unlike writing there are few edits.
I take what's given.  It's like a seance and truths are offered.
Keep it simple I often preach but it's not simple.  It's years of trying to communicate my philosophy.

I started writing on paint a few years ago.
It's easy in digital art but more complicated with pen and paint.
I'm less wordy as I get on in years.
I slice it lean like at the deli counter
That's a follow through from my youth when my mom always told me dad to go to the appetizing store. I went with him and he GA e ty e command to the deli guy.  Not sure my mom was ever satisfied with the result.  Tye things I remember a d laugh about them now ..

Some of the essential colours of existence: blue, flesh, black, sky blue. And the oxygen of existence: love. Do you hang these on your wall?  Enjoyed. Much.

That blue speaks to  me.
I was a blue and black abuser for years
Or black and blue.  No comment on that ..
I hang some of my paintings.  I have too many.
Some new and some old hang.
Lately I'm doing much smaller table top entries.
More bang and less space needed

Wait, I threw out my desk a year ago
Now every part of my life is on the dining room table.  It's my studio too for making Art too.  Not perfect but it works.
