A Parade of Cyclones
I remember when we would pray for rain
The drought seemed like a Dooms Day alert
But with climate change things take a quick turn
Now the downpours are causing floods we can’t avert
It’s a parade of cyclones lining up over the ocean
Storm after storm pounds us one after another
It’s a scary sight when you’re close to the floods
The west coast that was once toast is now underwater
Yes we prayed for rain, but not all at once
It’s too much for concrete waterways and rivers
And yet most of the water goes back to the ocean
That’s just the mad bad news Mother nature delivers
And though today there is a break in the weather
People are getting ready for yet more cloudbursts
Please don’t tell me climate change is a lie or a myth
Tell that to those who are preparing for the worst
Yes we need the rain, yes we need the snow
Nature and floods have no ill-will or malice
People are losing their homes and livelihoods
But years of drought have thrown things out of balance
