In Your Debt
My friend, you are a breath of fresh air
Amongst an ever-diluting pool of creativity
You bring light, innovation, and life
I cannot thank you enough for being a reliant harbor in the stormy waters
You are an agent of the forces of light
And you bring a divine gift to us clueless mortals
The radio plays the same-old tiring rhythms and beats
Yet your music, your creation, stirs the embers within my heart
A spark that I had thought would never reignite again
Unraveled the catalyst of my newly founded inspiration
Your gift gave me back my passion that I had lost for many years
The words twirl in my mind and beg my fingers to write them out
This fire your music ignited within me is burning strong
And I have no intention of letting it die out again
So, from one artist to another
I am in your debt.

As a writer who has experienced multiple decade-long droughts of composition, I think I'd owe a thousand artists a similar thank you for their material being absorbed into my grey matter, quietly recharging the creative daemon running the background. It's heartening to see someone pay appreciation to another soul (or souls) in gratitude for reigniting their flow. And the clean, forthright narrative and uncluttered word choices you've used are refreshing to read in an era of acronymic shorthand. Thank you for sharing you work with us.

I really owe this artist for my reignited inspiration. Plus, I do enjoy listening to his music. Thank you for your comment, raconteur.

Dear LC,
I really enjoyed this poem. You’ve so graciously honored this friend and muse using your talent- the greatest gift in return. I appreciated the analogies you used and your steadfast commitment to yourself to continue sharing your gifts with the world. Great piece. H🌷

Ah you read Paolini!? The Inheritance Cycle is perhaps the greatest high fantasy series I've ever read, surpassing in some ways even Tolkien or Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time.
It's a wonderful thing to give a gift of appreciation to someone else, how that energy flows in a positive reciprocity. 💖

Hello Daniel. I have read Paolini's Inheritance Cycle. It reminds me of fond memories from my childhood. I've also read Tolkien's Lord of the Rings Trilogy, as well as The Hobbit. I haven't Robert Jordan's work.

I received The Inheritance Cycle as a gift a few years ago, I wish I had read it as a child, like I did Tolkien. I read The Hobbit at 9, Lord of the Rings at 11
