Lots of toxic topics in the world and I like your creative juxtaposition of sandpaper to address them. Fortunately, sandpaper smooths things out too.

Some things are harder to put down on paper than
others. It can be a struggle - at least it is for me.
I actually did some research on sandpaper and there is such a thing
as garnet sandpaper!! I had to use it.
And you are spot on about how it smooths things out:)

I felt like writing a little song about the difficulty of life and
the challenge it can be to write it down. For some reason sandpaper came to mind. My mind went from there.

Also thought about all the sand on the beach and how people go there to reflect on life and how some things don't need to be written down in ink.

Hey buddy, just a note.  If you're having difficulty writing on the sandpaper, just flip it over to the smooth side. Or just hold the pen steady, and maneuver the paper. Kinda like a "spinner" thing maybe.
I know what you mean with this write, though.
I also looked up that song.  Totally surprised me!  I wasn't expecting something lilting like that.  
Your garnet grit makes good poetry.  I've chewed many a pen in my day.  I like how you added that line in your poem. The contemplations as we search for the right words.
You come up with some awesome original subjects when you write.  Very unique how you give life to things most of us overlook.  Clever!  
Good to see you feeding the DUP.  It ain't DUP without U !

Flipping it over is the easy way out. That's cheating!!  
But the "spinner" things sounds fun. I'm going to have to try
that one day. Kinda reminds me when I was a little bitty kid and my
grandpa would spin me around and round. hahaha

Heard the song it and had to write to it. But wanted to relate it into the writing sense as well as talking things out.

Lol. Can I be your publicist/agent? I can understand your reticence but it wouldn't be hard to make you sound good because I think you are good, really good, in fact! I'm in two minds about Prince Harry to be honest. On the one hand, we can all empathise with how painful it must have been to lose his mother but I feel that he's embarrassing his brother & father at the same time! Harry may later regret that he was so open in his book. Only time will tell.

I agree with you. My mom is a huge influence in my life. Even now.
But I think as he (Harry) gets older he's going to regret how he handled family issues. Too many outside opinions doesn't really help anything.
