Narcissus Echoed

From you, fairest creature, I desired
to propagate both our fair pool of genes,
and thereby show death's but a deaf liar
as we hear future's loud arriving scream.

But it seems, I have chosen a jonquil,
and their desires feeds on their own flame,
so even Shakespeare's cultivated quill
couldn't stir the pool where your face was framed.

But I shan't pine away as did Echo
though you loved self in my mirroring eyes,
I shall trumpet out all sweet tomorrows
with a bold Aaron, not limp, Narcissi.

You'll fade away as your love life grows thin
You've had the feast that herald's, this famine.
