A Friend's Death - By Nizana's daughter

Every hunger she’d felt in life
must have fallen on her in that instant.
Her panicked eyes cried out for life as the
crushing sadness of permanent loss covered her.
She fought for a moment against the forces of nature,
but then accepted her fate, going limp,
a hopeless swimmer dying into the earth.

She continued down the river.
The arms that held many lovers now waved gracefully with the flow of water.
The lips that had been the source of pleasure now parted in a final and lasting surrender.
